Clark Public Utilities Virtual Race for Warmth

The annual Race for Warmth is a great way to get out and be active while helping those in our community who may be struggling. This year, Race for Warmth will be a virtual race taking place January 29-31, 2021;  but even though the race is virtual, the funds raised for Operation Warm Heart will be able to offer some real help to those in need.

High School Sports Seasons and Schedules Modified for 2020-21 Season

The WIAA Executive Board took action on Tuesday to modify the 2020-21 WIAA sports season calendar in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The changes will create four WIAA-sanctioned seasons and will also move moderate- and high-risk team sports, originally scheduled for the fall season, to the WIAA Season 3.

City of Vancouver Closes Playgrounds, Sports Courts and Picnic Shelters

Vancouver Parks and Recreation is closing all active recreation areas in city parks, including sports courts, playgrounds, picnic shelters and other areas where maintaining appropriate social distancing is difficult. The closure goes into effect immediately and will remain in place through April 30.

Spudders Cheerleaders Win All-American Honors at Varsity Camp

The Ridgefield High School Cheer Team as a whole took first place in the Band Dance Competition and was voted Most Spirited Squad by the camp participants; and Amaya Socha (senior), Mia Tomillo (senior) and Joslyn Mayberry (sophomore) earned All-American Cheerleader honors at NCA competitions.

Clark County Young Champions

Student Athlete Heart Screenings. Our young athletes have got heart, and the Quinn Driscoll Foundation along with PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center want to be sure it keeps beating strong! On Saturday, February 20, 2016 Southwest’s Heart and Vascular Center and the Quinn Driscoll Foundation are offering Young Champions Heart Screenings.

The Quinn Driscoll Foundation is named for 13-year-old Quinn Driscoll, a student athlete at Wy’ East Middle School who died in 2009 after suffering cardiac arrest while running on the track during gym class. It is believed that a heart condition can exist in roughly 1 out of 500 individuals, and approximately one case of sudden cardiac death occurs every three days in organized youth sports across the United States.

Those are crazy numbers. But there’s a resource to help.

The Clark County High School Football Season 2012 kicks off this year on Thursday, August 30, 2012 and runs until Friday, October 26, 2012.
