Cider Squeeze and Blue Grass Jam at Cedar Creek Grist Mill

Step back into time and enjoy the apple harvest the old fashioned way…at the Cider Squeeze and Blue Grass Jam event at Cedar Creek Grist Mill on Saturday, October 29, 2016. Bring the kiddos and let them get some hands on experience pressing apples with hand cranked presses. Pressing will begin around 9 am, and continue until…well, until about 10,000 pounds of apples have been pressed into cider!

Fall Festival at Scented Acres

Head to Scented Acres Lavender Farm on Saturday, October 17th, 2015 from 10am to 3pm for a good old-fashioned fall festival.

Kids and adults alike will get the opportunity to churn butter, enjoy some freshly pressed apple cider, make ice-cream-in-a-bag, check out the antique corn-grinder at work, create a pine cone bird feeder, and find the perfect pumpkin in the patch just passed the lavender! You can even carve the pumpkin on-location. Mary’s Blue Ribbon Lavender Zucchini bread and hot cocoa will be on hand to warm the belly.

3rd Annual Harvest Festival @ Scented Acres

Pack up the family, invite a few friends, and head to the farm to enjoy old fashion fun, and holiday hauntings. Stations will be set up for butter churning, ice cream-in-a-bag, pine cone bird feeders, corn grinding, and an apple press. Put the kids to work on the washboard-ringer and tubs, and let them make their very own scarecrow!

Pumpkin Patches, Hay Rides, Mazes and More.

“There are three things I have learned never to discuss with people: religion, politics, and the Great Pumpkin.” Linus – It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.

The spirit of Halloween is alive in my neighborhood, and so begins our family’s quest for the great pumpkin, and all the fun that goes along with it (fun being the operative word here). So, we must pass by the overflowing bins of pumpkins at the local grocery stores, and head out to the pumpkin patch.

But which patch to go to? Here are four of our local favorites:

Bi-Zi Farms: Pumpkin Patch open to the public every Friday (2-5:30 pm), Saturday and Sunday (10 am-5:30 pm) through Halloween.  They offer Hay Rides, Cornfield Maze, Straw Bale Maze, Hay Bale Pyramid, Petting Zoo, Pumpkin Patch, Live Music on Saturday and Sunday, and the famous Pumpkin Launch. The Cornfield Maze is also open Friday and Saturday nights till 9:30 pm. Visit Bi-Zi Farms for more information, including an aerial view of their cornfield maze. (9504 NE 119th St, Vancouver; 360-574-9119)

Joe’s Place Farms: Pumpkin Patch open every day in October; Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm, Sunday 10 am to 5 pm. Hay Rides, Corn Maze, Pumpkin Patch, Face Painting and more. Be sure to check out all the decorations, fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as jams, jellies, pickles and more in the store. (701 NE 112th Ave, Vancouver; 360-892-3974)
