Cider Squeeze and Blue Grass Jam at Cedar Creek Grist Mill

hey! sharing is caring :)

Step back into time and enjoy the apple harvest the old fashioned way…at the Cider Squeeze and Blue Grass Jam event at Cedar Creek Grist Mill on Saturday, October 29, 2016.

Bring the kiddos and let them get some hands on experience pressing apples with hand cranked presses. Pressing will begin around 9 am, and continue until…well, until about 10,000 pounds of apples have been pressed into cider! (Usually around 6:00). The Bluegrass Jam will begin around 9:00 am on the back deck; if you play an instrument, feel free to join in!

The Cedar Creek Grist Mill rests on a steep and rocky slope at the bottom of a narrow gorge. It is the only grain grinding mill in Washington that has maintained its original structural integrity, grinds with stones and is water powered. Come visit and see how this mill still works today, like it did 100 years ago. Huge pulleys and belts spinning above and below are turning and churning to produce flour, corn meal and, yes, apple cider! No gas or electricity are used, simply mother nature’s water power.

The drive to the Cedar Creek Grist Mill and old covered bridge alone make it worth the trip. It’s like driving into the past; well, once you exit I-5 at Woodland. The Cedar Creek Grist Mill is located at 43907 NE Grist Mill Rd in Woodland, and is open year ’round on Saturdays between 1 and 4 pm, and Sundays between 2 and 4 pm. For more information, visit the Cedar Creek Grist Mill online, or call 360-225-5832.
