Pumpkin Patches, Hay Rides, Mazes and More.

“There are three things I have learned never to discuss with people: religion, politics, and the Great Pumpkin.” Linus – It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.

The spirit of Halloween is alive in my neighborhood, and so begins our family’s quest for the great pumpkin, and all the fun that goes along with it (fun being the operative word here). So, we must pass by the overflowing bins of pumpkins at the local grocery stores, and head out to the pumpkin patch.

But which patch to go to? Here are four of our local favorites:

Bi-Zi Farms: Pumpkin Patch open to the public every Friday (2-5:30 pm), Saturday and Sunday (10 am-5:30 pm) through Halloween.  They offer Hay Rides, Cornfield Maze, Straw Bale Maze, Hay Bale Pyramid, Petting Zoo, Pumpkin Patch, Live Music on Saturday and Sunday, and the famous Pumpkin Launch. The Cornfield Maze is also open Friday and Saturday nights till 9:30 pm. Visit Bi-Zi Farms for more information, including an aerial view of their cornfield maze. (9504 NE 119th St, Vancouver; 360-574-9119)

Joe’s Place Farms: Pumpkin Patch open every day in October; Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm, Sunday 10 am to 5 pm. Hay Rides, Corn Maze, Pumpkin Patch, Face Painting and more. Be sure to check out all the decorations, fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as jams, jellies, pickles and more in the store. (701 NE 112th Ave, Vancouver; 360-892-3974)

Pomeroy Living History Farm: Pumpkin Lane will be open every Saturday (10 am-5 pm) and Sunday (1 pm – 5 pm) from October 5-27, 2013. Enjoy a mile long hayride through Pumpkin Lane adorned with over 100 pumpkin people and a stop at the pumpkin patch. While you’re there, visit the animals, try your hand at the pumpkin flume, and check out the hay bale maze. You may even want to take a tour of the log house and grab a bite to eat at the Farm Cafe. (20902 NE Lucia Falls Rd, Yacolt; 360-686-8111)

Vancouver Pumpkin Patch: Open every day; Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm, Sunday from 1 pm to 6 pm. Relax and enjoy a fun Hay Ride out to find your Perfect Pumpkins, your family can visit the covered petting zoo and in-barn hay maze. (18905 NE 83rd St, Vancouver; 360-892-0434)
