Vintage Base Ball Returns to Fort Vancouver

You will think you have stepped back in time as the National Park Service at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site will once again host its popular evening of 1860s vintage base ball at 6:00 pm on Saturday, July 25, 2015, on the national park’s historic Parade Ground. This event is a fun, free, and fantastic opportunity to experience “base ball” (then two words) at its infancy, with costumed players and supporters, a brass band concert, and a mountain howitzer firing to start the game.

Dewey Decimal Pizza Party

Part of the 80 for 80 Campaign to Help Fund the New Ridgefield Library. The Friends of the Ridgefield Library are hosting a pizza party on Saturday July 11, 2015 from 6-10 pm to benefit the building fund of the new Ridgefield Library.

It will be held at a 10 acre farm in Ridgefield, and the pizzas will be made on site and baked in a hand made pizza oven. Guests are invited to order their own pizza toppings, so each one will be unique.

Port and Community Open New Section of Multiuse Trail

A crowd of about 100 state and local partners, walkers, bicyclists and Port of Vancouver USA staff recently converged on a spot along Northwest Lower River Road to cut the ribbon on a new section of multiuse trail and celebrate improved connectivity for the community.

The half-mile section of beautifully landscaped, asphalt trail stretches along the south side of Lower River Road, from the intersection of Mill Plain Boulevard/State Route 501, Fourth Plain Boulevard and St. Francis Lane to the port’s administrative offices. It’s one piece of an overall path that, when fully complete, will extend 4.5 miles along SR 501, eventually connecting with the city’s Renaissance Trail.

Harmony Sports Complex Upgrades to Allow for Expanded Soccer Play

Two new synthetic fields opened Friday at Harmony Sports Complex in east Vancouver, allowing year-round use by youth and young adult soccer players.

Washington Timbers secured financing to convert two former grass fields to synthetic turf and add field lights and fencing. Lights still need to be installed. The Washington Timbers serves about 3,500 soccer players, ages 5 to 19. The vast majority of players live in Clark County.

Marshall Center Celebrates 50 Years

To celebrate an amazing 50 years the Marshall Center (1009 E McLoughlin Blvd, Vancouver) will be hosting a FREE Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 30th from Noon to 5:00 PM. There are tons of activities scheduled for the day.

Pearson Air Museum Annual Cockpit Day

The Fort Vancouver National Trust is hosting its annual Open Cockpit Day this Saturday, May 30 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Pearson Field Education Center (1115 E 5th St, Vancouver).

Visitors will have the opportunity to climb into the cockpits of selected vintage aircraft, and experience the planes from a pilot’s perspective.

Clark Public Utilities’ StreamTeam is hosting its annual Earth Day Celebration Saturday, April 18 in partnership with Clark County Department of Environmental Services. The 16th Annual Earth Day Celebration will be held at Salmon Creek Regional Park with activities for the whole family.

Help Clark County Plan for the Future of your Parks

Clark County needs your help in setting priorities for your parks system.

The county is updating its long-range Comprehensive Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan for urban and rural areas of unincorporated Clark County. This blueprint for the future will guide the purchase of land for parks and the development of parks, trails, sports fields and other amenities.

Clark County is working closely with the seven-member Parks Advisory Board to update this important planning document. But we need your help in determining what amenities should be emphasized.

Appreciation Party at Pearson

Historic Pearson Field will “Celebrate Pearson Field” on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from noon to 4:00PM.
