Ridgefield | May Day Spring Festival

Friday, May 1st, 2015 marks the kick-off of Ridgefield First Saturdays, with a Cultural Parade down Pioneer Street at 1:30 PM and the Ridgefield Community Art Fair from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

English Estate 100 Year Old Barn Bash

Local winery English Estate is holding a special anniversary party, which includes celebrating 100 years for the English Estate Barn, built in 1915, now home of English Estate Winery in Vancouver.

This FREE, family friendly event will include tours of the Farm and Winery conducted by the English Family at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The afternoon will be filled with events, including music throughout the day, Tanner Cundy will perform 1-3 p.m. and Tom Mann will perform 3:30-5:30 p.m. Hot Dogs will be grilling from 2-5 p.m, and a Bocce Court will be open for play, with the covered and lighted Bocce court located next to the Manor House built by the English Family in 1916.

Carter Joins Community Foundation as First Program Officer

The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington recently hired Shona Carter as the organization’s first dedicated Program Officer. In this role, Carter will serve as the primary liaison between the foundation and its grantees. This will involve developing, managing and evaluating a comprehensive portfolio of local grants and initiatives to enhance the granting expertise of the Foundation, its 18-member board and the donor advisors of its more than 290 charitable funds.

“Shona’s direct experience and expertise will bolster our efforts to measure the impact of grants and engage more directly with community partners on local issues,” said Community Foundation President, Jennifer Rhoads. “She comes highly-regarded and we’re delighted to welcome her back to the Northwest.”

Cinco de Mayo with the Stars

On Tuesday, May 5, from 4 pm to 8:30 pm at the 40 et 8 Bingo Hall, 7607 NE 26th Ave., Vancouver, you will be treated to a musical extravaganza and more to benefit the Clark County Veterans Garden Project that will include raised beds for handicapped Vets.

The purpose of the Clark County Veterans Community Garden is to provide a community garden specially created to benefit veterans. The garden will promote self-reliance, physical activity, social interaction and contributes to the health and well-being of veterans in the community.

Clark County Skills Center Tour

Join Clark County Skills Center Director Kari Duffy, staff and students for a VIP Tour of the technical programs on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The Tour includes an overview and walking tour of the campus with stops at a variety of the Center’s technical programs (including the newly opened Aviation and Homeland Security programs and the new Cosmetology teaching salon).

Lunch will be prepared and served by the Culinary Arts students. The cost is $5.00 per person.

Country Life Fair at Pomeroy Farms | 2015

This free event (formerly the Herb Festival), but is an excellent “family fun” activity for kids and adults of all ages. Pomeroy Farm will be selling herb plants and organic vegetable plants, and a variety of vendors will be selling their wares. In addition the farm animals will be out for petting and the historic log house will be open for tours.

2nd Annual Tacos & Taps for Clark County Food Bank

The Clark County Food Bank (CCFB) will host its 2nd Annual Tacos & Taps fundraiser event on Friday, May 1st, 2015. For $35 per person you can enjoy a night of great music from Blues Ranch, food, drink, conversation and of course unlimited tacos.

Free Clinic of Southwest Washington Celebrates 25 Years with Breakfast Fundraiser

The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington will host a breakfast fundraiser in honor of its co-founder, Dr. Sam Beall, and to commemorate the clinic’s 25th year. The breakfast will be Thursday, April 23 at 7 a.m. at the Red Cross Building at Vancouver Barracks. The public is invited.

Since Dr. Beall (pronounced “bell”) and Father Ed Rankin opened the original Community Health Center in 1990, with ten volunteers providing free, urgent medical care one night a week, services have expanded significantly. Today, over 600 active volunteers provide care to low-income, uninsured and underinsured individuals
