North River Racing Premier Cycling Team.
Bicycle racing is an exciting and challenging discipline, incorporating strength, fitness, coordination, strategy, precision, endurance and guts. A Criterium is a short road race on a circuit – usually city streets – closed to traffic. The distance per lap may vary and races are of varying numbers of laps. The mass start, high-speed cornering and sprinting make criterium exciting for participants and spectators alike.
North River Racing is Southwest Washington’s Premier Cycling Team, and on Sunday, August 1, members of the North River Racing Squad will compete, along with many other men’s and women’s cycling teams from throughout the West Coast (California, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, Montana, Nevada, and Canada) in the 5th annual edition of the Vancouver Courthouse Criterium. This awe inspiring event is to be held in Downtown Vancouver. The unique figure 8 course offers spectacular spectator views of exciting fast paced races throughout the day. The races begin and end at 12th and Daniels St, and run from 10 am to 6 pm. Click for Start Times and Course Map.
The North River Racing Team has hooked up with the Washington State School for the Blind to raise funds for the school’s activities programs. For the past 7 years, various North River Racers and other local bike enthusiasts from the Vancouver Bicycle Club have teamed up with students from the WSSB on tandem bikes, taking rides throughout the Vancouver area. It is a fun and rewarding experience for both the students and the volunteers.
