This holiday season, be sure to put “Eat Chocolate” at the top of your “Things to Do Today” list; that way, you will be sure to get one at least one thing done!
But, in reality, you will also be helping kids in Foster Care. TwinStar Credit Union is continuing their See’s Candy Fundraiser again this year benefiting Bridge the Gap, a community outreach program designed to enrich the lives of abused and neglected children in Clark County.
According to Tony Ruestig, Director of Community Development with TwinStar, “Our goal is to help provide funds for children in foster care so these kids can experience what many of their peers experience in their own homes. Things like playing sports, Christmas presents, clothes and shoes that fit, and educational assistance. The need is significant, and every little bit helps.”
Since its establishment in 1999, Bridge the Gap (a 501c3 non profit organization) has enabled many children in foster care to experience “firsts” – to receive Christmas presents or have a birthday celebration, to receive new clothes, to play a sport, to receive tutoring, to attend summer camp or to excel at a special skill because they received needed attention, training, and affirmation. Often, children come into the foster care system with only the clothes on their backs.
Just visit any branch of TwinStar Credit Union in the Clark County area and buy a See’s Candy bar or two and help bring some happiness in what can otherwise be a very sad time for children. 100% of all funds will be donated to Bridge the Gap for Kids. Candy Bars are $3.00 for one or $5.00 for two. Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, and Extra Dark are all available.
The Bridge the Gap Fundraiser Starts November 25th and Runs to December 20th.
