Fall is upon us, which means it’s time to enjoy apple cider, apple pie… and the Old Apple Tree Festival!
On October 4th, from 11am to 3pm Old Apple Tree Park will be a hub of fall vivacity with fruit tree pruning workshops, live music, food, walking tours of Fort Vancouver, kid-friendly activities, and cider pressing. Take a turn on the press and sample the amazing cider produced by our fantastic Washingtonian apples. Better yet… bring your own apples and a container and take home some cider to enjoy later!
The annual event honors the oldest apple tree in the Northwest, planted at Fort Vancouver in 1826. It is considered the matriarch of Washington State’s apple industry. Urban Forestry Commissioners will be giving away a limited number of cuttings from the tree.
The Old Apple Tree Park is located off of Columbia Street, across from Joe’s Crab Shack, under the railroad crossing.
Mark your calendars and be sure to attend this tasty bite of Vancouver history!
