Neighbors Hope to see Shortened Construction Timeframe.
For those Salmon Creek residents living in the neighborhoods north of Fred Meyer, the traffic issues caused by the new C-TRAN Park & Ride construction is likely beginning to annoy. But the Clark County Public Works announced Thursday that a traffic change that will begin mid-May, which may ease some stress.
According to a Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) press release, a one-way couplet will be created around the Fred Meyer retail area. N.E. 10th Avenue will be a single lane of northbound traffic, and two lanes of one-way, westbound traffic will be on N.E. 139th Street between 10th Ave. and N.E. Tenney Road. The change is expected to go from mid-May through August. (For a fullsize image of the picture at the left, please see the WSDOT link).
WSDOT believes the traffic adjustment will trim four to six weeks from the construction timetable and will be safer for drivers, pedestrians and construction workers.
