We all have them, medication that has been sitting in our cabinet and are now expired. So how do you safely dispose of these? Most pharmacies will be able to point you in the right direction, but here in Clark County, WA the community has come together to raise awareness about proper medication disposal and provide opportunities to easily do so.
Throwing medication in the trash or flushing them down the toilet poses serious risk to contaminating water sources, impacting the environment and causing other major issues. Taking them to designated locations ensures that meds are taken care of responsibly.
On Saturday, September 27th, several locations around Clark County will be open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm to receive medications that you want to dispose of. Both prescription and over-the-counter medications will be accepted, however intra-venous, injectables, syringes or medical waste cannot be disposed of. Please make certain all personal information is removed from the containers.
