The Community Military Appreciation Committee (CMAC) and the City of Vancouver invite the community to attend a special 9/11 Patriot Day ceremony commemorating the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001.
The event starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, September 11 at Vancouver Waterfront Park, 695 Waterfront Way.
The ceremony will feature the Vancouver Fire & Police Honor Guard, musical performances, a ceremonial bell ringing, Vancouver Veterans of Foreign Wars rifle salute, a water spray display on the Columbia River by the Vancouver Fire Department’s fireboat Discovery, and a release of doves from a World War II PT boat on the river.
C-TRAN will provide free shuttle service at Hudson’s Bay High School (1601 E. McLoughlin Blvd.) to take people to and from the event. Parking at the high school is free. The C-TRAN shuttle will take people from the high school to the event between 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m., and will bring people back to the high school after the event from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Shuttles will depart every 15 minutes.
