The North Clark Historical Museum and Mt. Valley Grange #79 are co-hosting the 34th Annual Celebration of Veterans on Saturday, November 6 at Mt. Valley Grange #79, 40107 NE 221st Avenue, Amboy.
There will be an Ice Cream & Cookie Social starting at 1:00 pm in the basement. Admission is $3.00 for adults, Children (12 and under) $1.50. Proceeds will go to Mt. Valley Grange #79 for operating expenses.
The program will begin at 2:00 pm. The Program Speaker will be Lt. Colonel Ward A. Holcomb, USMC, Ret. North Clark area organizations will be recognized for their contributions to the community. The organization to be highlighted is the North Clark Lions Club. Dave Lund, Vice President, will present information about the services provided by the Lions Club. Patriotic song and entertainment will be provided by Danae Castle.
All Veterans attending will receive a free raffle ticket for a special Patriotic Quilt made and donated by the Chelatchie Quilters. The quilt is lap-size and may only be won by a Veteran.
The winning ticket for the quilt “Prairie Sampler”, a fundraiser for North Clark Historical Museum, will be drawn. Proceeds from the raffle supplement the Capital Improvement Fund. The Museum Saturday group, Stitchery Circle, crafted a granny square afghan, which will be raffled off during the event. The Museum Board members will provide potted plants for the Door Prize Raffle. Tickets will be available that afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 pm in the main hall and in the basement. Proceeds will go to the North Clark Historical Museum.
A Pie Auction of store-bought pies will conclude the event, proceeds will go to Mt. Valley Grange #79.
