You probably already make a difference somehow, somewhere, to someone every day, but here’s a chance to do so with a bunch of other committed community members.
Here are a few activities and ways you can participate in make a Difference Day here locally.
Clark Public Utilities Stream Team
Volunteers are invited to join Clark Public Utilities Stream Team to celebrate the annual Make a Difference Day, October 24th, 2015 with stream-side tree planting, entertainment, and refreshments. The event will be held rain or shine, and will kick-off with a coordinated planting effort, followed by a celebration of volunteer efforts and annual service awards. On-site training, tools, and trees will be provided.
The event starts at 8:45am, followed by lunch, live music and awards at noon. It is free to attend, but registration is required. If you are interested, contact Ashley at 360-992-8585 or [email protected].
The Butt Stops Here
Volunteers will gather Saturday, Oct. 24, for the fifth annual The Butt Stops Here cleanup to remove cigarette butts and other litter from parks.
The event will begin with a brief orientation and refreshments at 10AM in the Bud Van Cleve Community Room at Luke Jensen Sports Park, 4000 N.E. 78th St. Volunteers will break into small groups and fan out to parks and public areas in Vancouver and unincorporated Clark County.
Organizers will have a list of parks, but encourage volunteers to come with a specific park in mind. Volunteers must provide their own transportation. At 12:30 p.m., volunteers will return to the sports park to weigh bags of cigarette butts and enjoy lunch provided by Blind Onion Pizza.
