Join the Community Pet Food Drive Today!

hey! sharing is caring :)

It isn’t always just the humans in the house that may be short on food, the furry members of the family need to eat too.

Going on now through December 31st, the Humane Society for Southwest Washington is collecting pet food donations for the pets in our community. Just bring your donation and place it under the holiday tree in the Humane Society lobby.

Stacey Graham, President of HSSW said, “we are proud to ensure pets throughout our community are fed. Pets are so important to our region’s vulnerable populations, and Chow Now is one of our many community outreach programs that nourishes this loving bond”.

During the last two weeks of December, donations collected will go to the Animeals program through the Clark County Food Bank. HSSW has been giving pet food to Animeals for quite some time. Animeals takes the food to three different Meals-on-Wheels distribution sites and the pet food is distributed alongside the human food meals. This is important so that seniors do not give their own food to their pet companions. This ensures all are fed well and properly.

Through this partnership, 15 tons of pet food is distributed each year. While extra donations are asked for in December each year, pet food donations are accepted year-round at HSSW.

For more information about what kinds of food are accepted, visit the HSSW website.
