Hoops for HOPE is a 3-on-3 basketball benefit and promises to be a fun-filled destination weekend event to be held on August 20-22nd, 2021.
Formerly “Hoops on the River” the original founders have come back to bring a new improved version to Vancouver. “Working with our community partners, we are planning the event for teams of all ages and skill levels, families, and sports enthusiasts alike! The games will be played on half courts, spread throughout the parking lot on the NW side of Vancouver Mall. Our Les Schwab Center Court will showcase players in our community, demonstrate their skills in Slam Dunk contests, 3-point shoot-outs, and feature other fun activities!”
The HOOPS for HOPE Kick-Off event is Saturday, May 22, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM outside of Gold’s Gym at Vancouver Mall. Enjoy back-to-back exhibition games, including kids, wheelchair, and adult teams. There will be a drawing for some gift cards and two free team entries. Staff will be on hand to chat. Registration information for participating in the August tournament is coming soon.
Their mission is not only to make HOOPS for HOPE the premier basketball tournament in Southwest Washington but also to benefit local veterans, low-income families of our community and to create a youth scholarship fund. “This scholarship will give youth the support they need to pursue their talents and passion, attend various sports camps, play league sports, or other activities, which will enrich their lives– on and off the court.”
The HOPE stands for Help One Person Everyday. “Serving one another through helping others leads to uplifting our communities, our neighborhoods, schools, families, and ourselves. When this becomes a habit, the world seems to be a little healthier and HOPEful.”
