Join the Vancouver Urban Forestry Pruning Party.
Do you have or want fruit trees at your home? Want to learn the proper way to prune so they produce more fruit? Join Vancouver Urban Forestry and Clark County Environmental Services for a free fruit tree pruning workshop Thursday, January 27th from 1-4 p.m at the Heritage Farm in Hazel Dell (1919 NE 78th St).
Learn the biology and fundamentals of proper fruit tree pruning then put your new skills into practice on the terraced food forest. The hands on workshop will take place on the terraced food forest; and, as this is a hands on workshop, bring your gloves and pruners (limited quantities available at the site). Craig Smith, of Arborsmith Tree Care will be on hand explaining why we prune, how to prune, and providing guidance as participants practice on Heritage Farm fruit trees.
To register or obtain more information contact Blake Jones at [email protected] or (360) 397-2121 ext. 4300. The terraced food forest is a Clark County Environmental Services project and is used to demonstrate permaculture principles. Permaculture food forests produce food, produce forage for insects, pollinators, chickens, and song birds, create wildlife habitat, nurture our bodies through herbal teas and concoctions, and create beauty and a sense of well being.
