Giving Thanks for Wine

hey! sharing is caring :)

Looking for a fun get together with (or get away from  ;-) ) family and friends over Thanksgiving weekend? There are 17 local wineries participating in a New Release and Barrel Tasting event Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 27-29, 2015 from noon to 5 pm.

So, for me, visiting a few wineries sounds a LOT better than hitting the mall; but, what exactly is a barrel tasting? At a barrel tasting “each winery will select wines that are still “in process” and not yet released. These could be wines that were harvested in the Fall of 2015 (just a few months old) or wines that have been aging for 6 to 24 months. It’s a fascinating sneek peek into the evolution of the living, breathing, ever-changing thing we call wine…”

English Estate Winery (17806 SE 1st St, Vancouver) will feature a vertical Pinot Noir tasting of their 2013, 2014 and 2015. They will also have a new release of their Signature Raspberry Delight, along with a new Plum Nectar and Gewürztraminer Nectar (all three fortified with their Pinot Noir Brandy). Tasting for this weekend is $8 and will include a variety of styles of wines. Rezabek Vineyards from Battleground will also be pouring their wines at the old Pump House Tasting Room located on the English Farm.

Gouger Cellars, Bethany Vineyards and Three Brothers Winery are partnering with Nellie’s Double Decker Bus to bring you around to their wineries! It will begin at 1 pm on Friday and Noon on Saturday and Sunday and will drop off and pick up at the park and ride at exit 14, Gouger Cellars, Bethany Vineyards and Three Brothers Winery. The charge is $5 per person and includes getting on and off as many times as you like. There is even a place on the bus to lock up your wine purchases.

This is the weekend to stock up on delicious table and dessert wines for the Holidays for your own table or as gifts. Get your Christmas shopping done and get a little something for yourself as well!

Other participating wineries include Burnt Bridge Cellars, Cellar 55 Tasting Room, Confluence Vineyards, Dolio Winery, Emanar Cellars, Heisen House Vineyards, Koi Pond Cellars, Moulton Falls Winery, Olequa Cellars, Pomeroy Cellars, Rusty Grape Vineyard and Village Vineyard. For a complete list and a map, visit SW Washington Wine Country.
