Free Summer Meals for Kids

hey! sharing is caring :)

Food is incredibly important for a developing child or teen, and yet over 20,000 children in Clark County are considered food insecure (they do not know when or where their next meal is coming from). Research shows that receiving free or reduced-price meals reduces food insecurity, obesity rates, and poor health in children.

The goal of the Summer Meals program is to give all children 18 and under access to nutritious meals in low-income areas while they do not have access to free/reduced school meals. This year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, all Share Summer Meals sites will be providing free grab–n–go meals from June 22 to August 14, 2020. All children and teens 18 and under are welcome. No paperwork is required, and we they will not collect personal information. Children must be present to receive a meal.

The Police Activities League of SW Washington (PAL) will be partnering with Share Vancouver to bring a summer lunch program to Fruit Valley Elementary (3410 NW Fruit Valley Road) and Orchards Elementary (11405 NE 69th Street). PAL will be at these two schools June 22 – August 14, Monday-Friday from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM providing a FREE grab n’ go lunch for youth 18 and younger.

Please note that no meals will be provided at any site location on July 3, in recognition of the national July 4 holiday.

For more information, including a full list of sites offering free meals as well as volunteer opportunities, visit Share Summer Meals Program online.
