Focus on Complementary and Alternative Medicines

hey! sharing is caring :)

The Clark County Commission on Aging is focusing this year on supportive services, especially for people 50 and older. The purpose is to educate and raise awareness about supportive services that exist, or may need to exist, to help Clark County’s older citizens age in their own home and familiar neighborhood for as long as they can.

Complementary and alternative medicine use offers safe, effective treatments for common concerns of the aging population. Learn how complementary and alternative medicine approaches can help with low back pain, arthritis, menopause, andropause, memory decline and digestive ailments at the Tuesday, November 14th meeting of the Commission on Aging. The 4:30 p.m. meeting will be in the sixth-floor Hearing Room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. It is open to the public.

Dr. Jaymie Mackler, a Naturopathic Physician and Licensed Acupuncturist, will help define what alternative practitioners can provide patients, with a focus on naturopathic medicine and acupuncture.

This discussion is the ninth and last meeting this year focused on supportive services, especially for people 50 and older.

Research reveals that 87 percent of people prefer to retire in place and will need a variety of services to remain in their home as long as possible.

The Commission on Aging, supported by the Clark County council, is a nine-member volunteer group that implements the Aging Readiness Plan and provides leadership addressing needs of aging community members.
