Artfully carved and decorated pumpkins and Disney-themed costumes will fill Downtown Camas on First Friday, October 1st, 5-8pm. Festivities will include pumpkin pageant voting, art shows, Disney-themed kids’ crafts, a ribbon-cutting, giveaways, treats, fall shopping and dining, and new this year, a fun Disney Pin Trading activity.

Activity details include:

– 16th Annual “Pumpkin Pageant”: Participating downtown businesses will each have a carved or decorated pumpkin and there will be a People’s Choice Vote for the favorite. Voting enters you to win fall-themed prizes from the merchants. The People’s Choice winner also receives a prize basket.
– Disney Pin Trading: Each participant will receive 5 FREE Disney pins and you will be able to trade pins with all the participating merchants and DCA volunteers around town (while supplies last).
– Disney Costumes: Come dressed as your favorite Disney character, princess or villain and be entered to win. Disney bounding will enter you to win as well.
– Ribbon Cutting, 5pm for Journey Kids Space, 334 NE 4th. Come see what they have planned for the community!
– Art shows and receptions with refreshments at Attic Gallery, 421 NE Cedar, featuring artist Earl Hamilton and live music and Camas Gallery, 408 NE 4th.
– Disney-inspired kids’ crafts at LiveWell Camas, 417 NE Birch, organized by Girl Scout Troop 45703.
– Festive shopping, live music, and dining specials throughout town.

Start your night at the DCA table at 4th & Cedar by the fountain to pick up your passport and pins.

“We love the fall and we love Disney so this First Friday will be extra fun all around!” says Carrie Schulstad, Executive Director of the Downtown Camas Association (DCA). “The merchants have become quite competitive with their pumpkins so it’s always a hoot seeing what everyone has on display while shopping through town. We also enjoy seeing the creative costumes families come dressed in and it adds an extra energy to the festivities. This year we’re adding Pin Trading since it’s a Disney theme and we’re hoping everyone has a great time with it!”
