Clark County Open Studios Tour

hey! sharing is caring :)

Clark County Open Studios is a free, self-guided tour where local artists share how, why and where their art is created. As an ongoing program of the nonprofit Arts of Clark County, the tour now occupies a regular spot on the fall arts calendar for art lovers and collectors. During the Open Studio Tour 50 artists will throw their doors open to the public on Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 10 am to 5 pm.

“People love to get a look behind the scenes of the creative process and if you plan on shopping for art, there is nothing more gratifying than knowing the artist,” says director Jennifer Williams. For some artists, their vision has turned into a full-time business, while others embrace their creativity as a way of life. “No matter which stops you choose, the tour is guaranteed to inspire.” On Open Studios weekend, visitors can learn first-hand about techniques in painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, ceramic, jewelry, fiber arts, and photography.

“It’s amazing,” says Karen Madsen, Arts of Clark County chair. “Each year we hear from more people who want to participate, either as artists or visitors.” Now artists are scrambling to get their studios ready. “Clean but not pristine!” Williams advises artists, as she wants to ensure that visitors see the real deal, the authentic workspace of each artist.

With studios located throughout the county, it’s best to plan your tour so that you can get to each artist on your must-see list. This year, free printed guides will be available before the event at sponsors’ business locations and other sites in addition to being at the First Friday preview show. You can also view or print your own guide, access a custom Google map showing studio locations and suggested routes, learn more about each artist, and get a list of locations where you can pick up a printed guide—all from the event website at Clark County Open Studios.
