Soup’s On In Salmon Creek.

The Share Vancouver 11th annual Share-a-Bowl fundraising dinner will feature gourmet soups created by local chefs, plus artisan soup bowls as a keepsake for each guest. The event will be held Sunday, April 22, Skyview High School, 1300 NW 139th St., Vancouver. Doors open at 4:45 p.m., event begins at 5 p.m.

“Last year’s Share-a-Bowl was the first to feature local chefs preparing the soup and it was a fantastic success with our attendees,” said Diane McWithey, Executive Director of Share. “We have a new line-up of soup selections this year; attendees will have a difficult time in voting for the ‘People’s Choice Award.’ Also new this year is the addition of four local artists who handcrafted beautiful bowls for each person to take home as a keepsake.”

Dinner includes a variety of soup selections, salad, bread, beverages and dessert. Featured chefs and soups include: Cannelini Bean with Spicy Sausage Tramezzino made by Troy Lucio of Gray’s at the Park; Cajun Gumbo made by Muffin Batiste of Le Sous Chef; and Carrot Ginger made by Mark Wornson of Tommy O’s. Each guest will have an opportunity to sample each soup and vote for the ‘People’s Choice Award’ for best soup.

Plus each attendee will take home an artisan soup bowl, designed by local artists Anna Carpentieri, Stephen Mickey, Dara Hartman and Robin Hominiuk. Also available are bowls by Michael Metz.

The evening’s program will include the presentation of the 2012 Emily Marshall Volunteer of the Year award; this year’s nominees are Jillian Provience, First United Methodist Church, Steve & Vicki Heil and Hailee Hillard.

Cost of attend is $40 for adults, $15 for children (5-12), free for children under five; a table of 8 can also be reserved for $290. Tickets can be purchased on-line at sharevancouver.org (click on the Share-a-Bowl link) or by calling (360) 695-7658 ext. 3301. Proceeds will benefit Share’s Hunger Initiative, including the Hot Meals, Backpack and SummerSLAM programs.
