Battle Ground Public Schools Hosts Annual Plant and Greenhouse Sales

hey! sharing is caring :)

A variety of annual and perennial bedding and flowering plants, as well as vegetable starts and hanging baskets grown in Battle Ground Public Schools’ greenhouses by students and staff, will be available for purchase at upcoming public sales beginning April 24. Stock is limited this year.

Reservations are required to purchase plants at the Prairie High School sale, while Battle Ground is offering a first-come, first-served sale. For everyone’s health, COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place at the sales, including the requirement that everyone wears masks.

Money raised from these sales supports the district’s horticulture and FFA programs and welding teams. While the variety of plants available for purchase is limited this year due to the pandemic, there are still many items to purchase that will spruce up your garden this spring and summer.

Students and staff from Battle Ground High School, Prairie High School, and the FFA program grow tens of thousands of plants each year. Some of these plants are used in landscaping projects on school campuses, while the rest are sold at annual public sales.

Battle Ground High School’s Agriculture Department has more than a thousand hanging baskets available for sale this year. No other types of plants will be available this year at BGHS. The sale will take place at Battle Ground High School on Saturday, April 24, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This is a first-come, first-served event, but will close earlier than 3:00 PM if baskets sell out. Sales are cash or check only.

Prairie High School’s plant sale will occur over multiple days. The event requires advance sign-up for selection and purchase to assist with physical distancing and safety. The program will have baskets, vegetables, bedding plants, and foliage plants available for purchase. Credit cards or check accepted at time of sale.
