Hot off the press. . . A bill allowing wine, beer, and hard cider sampling passed successfully through the state legislature and is ready for the governor’s signature! This means local wineries and breweries will be able to offer samples of their products to you, farmer’s market customers, starting in mid-August.
Fun and educational events are the focus of the Thursday Salmon Creek Farmer’s Market behind Biscuits Café and Wayside Market starting July 11. After the Grand Opening on July 11, look for other special days throughout the season.
“Celebrating Local Farms” on July 18 gives us an opportunity to take pride in our local farms and farmers. Recycling is the focus of August 15, featuring the “Recycle Man.” “Kid’s Day” is August 22; enjoy kids selling their own handmade products and/or crafts as well as kids producing kids’ live music.
There will by many new vendors joining your local favorites at the market this year. The Salmon Creek Burgerville has also stepped up and is supporting the market by providing “Burgerville Bucks” to you when you bring your backyard bounties to the farmer’s market to donate to the Clark Co. Food Bank. This program will begin mid-August when the zucchini starts running rampant!
