Most people have heard of therapy dogs… but how much do you know about therapy horses?
SpiritHorse Therapeutic Center of Sw Washington is having an Open House Saturday, November 25, 2017, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Find out more about this unique place that is devoted to helping those with special needs reach their full potential by providing therapeutic equine-assisted services free of charge.
“Our principal goal is therapy and not recreation – SpiritHorse uses certified instructors that instruct the therapy sessions. SpiritHorse will teach with many of the lessons taught in the public school, but to children of special needs, for example, we can teach children of autism how to focus and stay on a specific task through having leading, grooming and tacking up as part of the lesson. It includes, for example, 88 specific steps provided in a “one-on-one” setting for intervening with children diagnosed with Autism and other disabilities.”
At the Open House, you will have the chance to meet the staff and the wonderful therapy horses and ponies; as well as some of the students and their families. Refreshments and hot cider will be served.
