2018 Hazel Dell Parade Winners

hey! sharing is caring :)

The 2018 Hazel Dell Parade of Bands is in the books. According to Hazel Dell/Salmon Creek Business Association President Tony Ruestig of TwinStar Credit Union, the event showcased 29 bands and almost 140 entries, that combined with the great weather made the 54th Annual version of the Parade a rousing success.

The winner of the popular Battle of the Bands contest was Frontier Middle School. Frontier defended their 2017 crown in admirable fashion with over 35% of the total vote. Skyview High School was runner-up, with Chief Umtuch Middle School taking third, Heritage High School took fourth, and 2014 Champion Discovery Middle School taking fifth. Congrats to all the kids (and parents) who put in so much time to prepare for the big event.

The judging of floats and entries were as follows:

The Hazel Dell Fred Meyer entry won the Grand Marshal Award.

In Division I, the Clark County Fair Court and Riverview Community Bank won the overall trophy. The blue ribbon went for the Clark County Fair Mounted Patrol and a red ribbon for the 2018 Miss Vancouver Rodeo Queen.

In Division II, Clark County Special Olympics earned the overall trophy. Amboy Territorial Days Royal Court took the blue ribbon, Miss Teen La Center scholarship picked up a red ribbon, and Clark County Goat 4-H received a white ribbon.

In Division III, the trophy went to Vancouver Vision Clinic. People’s Community Federal Credit Union grabbed the blue ribbon, Millar Construction took the red ribbon, and a white ribbon went to Paul Davis Restoration.

For Division IV, Rose City Classics took the overall trophy. With a blue ribbon for Mustangs Unlimited, and a red ribbon for Bob Bryant. In Division V, Fort Vancouver Antique Equipment won the overall trophy, and CalPortland took home a blue ribbon.

The Hazel Dell Parade is already set for next year. Always the third Saturday in May, the 2019 event will be on Saturday, May 18. See YOU there!
