Veteran’s Day Parade at Fort Vancouver

hey! sharing is caring :)

On Saturday November 8th, join in and honor local veterans with this annual Department of Veteran Affairs sanctioned parade, at the Fort Vancouver National Site (612 E Reserve Street). Opening ceremony begins at 10:00 am and the parade will kick off at 11:00 am. This event is open to all.

The Veterans Parade at Fort Vancouver was started 28 years ago by a group of volunteers led by Mike Harding to recognize a need in our community, a way to honor Clark County veterans. More than 100 military, veteran and civic organizations and 2,500 individuals participate in the parade.

With assistance and support from then Vancouver Barracks Commander Royce Pollard and City of Vancouver Mayor Bruce Hagensen, Mike and a committee of volunteers successfully put together the  first Veterans Parade. The Fort Vancouver National Trust is now honored to host this parade, which is one of the largest Department of Veteran Affairs sanctioned Veterans Parades on the West Coast.

This event would not be possible with out the team of volunteers, esteemed sponsors and the community. While the Trust is now responsible for the organization of the parade, it is these dedicated volunteers that allow the parade to be a success.

So be sure to take some time out of your Saturday morning and come on out for the parade – it will take place rain or shine!
