What do Christmas Trees, Block Foam and Electronics Have in Common

hey! sharing is caring :)

They Can All be Recycled This Saturday in Vancouver.

While your Christmas Tree is probably not green anymore, you can still be green when you get rid of it! Just be sure you have removed all ornaments, tinsel, lights, etc., and then you can either:

A. Leave them curbside Saturday morning for the Boy Scouts to pickup, a $7 donation is suggested. (this will include all Clark County School District boundaries except Green Mountain and rural Battle Ground)
B. Leave them curbside on your normal yard debris collection date (trees 5′ and under only).
C. Take your tree to Central Transfer and Recycling, City Bark, H & H Wood Recyclers, McFarlane’s Bark, Triangle Resources, Washougal Transfer Station, or West Van Materials Recovery Center.

But wait, there’s more! “Clark County residents can recycle their clean block foam and old computers for free from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., this Saturday, Jan. 8, in the Yellow #1 Parking Lot at Clark College, on the west side of Fort Vancouver Way.

E-waste, which includes computers and other electronic devices, will be collected by Empower Up, a nonprofit organization that recycles electronics and offers free computer training. Empower Up prefers working electronic equipment that is no more than five years old, but nonfunctioning and obsolete equipment will also be accepted. More information is available at www.empowerupnow.org.

No televisions, computer monitors or microwave ovens can be accepted, however. For a list of free e-waste disposal sites that will accept old TVs, go to RecyclingA-Z.com.

Block foam packaging, or Styrofoam®, can be any color, but it must be clean and bagged or boxed. No plastic-wrapped yellow urethane foam or spongy polypropylene foam, no hot tub covers, no packing peanuts, and no foam with cardboard, tape or metal attached will be accepted. Only Washington-licensed cars may participate.”
