Walk to Help End MS

hey! sharing is caring :)

Walk MS is an annual event to raise funds, awareness and hope for a cure for Multiple Sclerosis taking place this year in Vancouver on Sunday, May 1, 2016, 10 am at Esther Short Park. This is a 100% accessible, 5k walk route with entertainment and refreshments along the way.

“More than 5,500 people are expected to rally in nine communities across Oregon and Southwest Washington between April 16 and May 7 for the National MS Society’s annual Walk MS fundraising event. Participants help raise funds for critical, cutting edge research that benefit more than 8,100 people living with multiple sclerosis in the region. It’s a great day for friends, family and co-workers to make connections, have fun, and stomp all over MS.” While there is no fundraising minimum or fee to register, the Oregon Chapter encourages a $35 minimum donation.

Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are leading to better understanding and moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 2.3 million worldwide.
