Vancouverites Unite to Create Tool Lending Library

hey! sharing is caring :)

West Vancouver Tool Library.

Talk about “Building Community”! Plans are underway in Vancouver to build a community tool library. The West Vancouver Tool Library will be a lending library, providing residents of West Vancouver free loan of basic gardening, home repair and maintenance tools.

Americans Building Community (ABC), a local non-profit focused on community development, is leading the development. The library is modeled off successful tool libraries already in place in Portland.

The Tool Library is currently seeking volunteers and tool donations. Tools can be donated at Clark County Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Saturday mornings starting February 12th, 9am to 12noon. Donations will continue each Saturday until March 26th. Please bring only tools in good working condition, no gasoline powered, broken tools or electric chainsaws will be accepted. Donations are tax deductible, receipts will be provided.

Volunteers are needed to help staff the donation days above and by joining the organizing committee to help develop the new library. To join the organizing committee, come to monthly meetings on the second Monday of every month, 5:30pm at Memorial Lutheran Church, 2700 E 28th St. Please note that the February meeting will be held on Tuesday February 15th.

You can also follow Vancouver ToolLibrary on Facebook, and while you’re there, don’t forget to stop by and visit the Clark County Live facebook page. 8-)
