Vancouver Rotary Festival of Trees

hey! sharing is caring :)

A High Flying Tradition.

Updated 11/29/2010: Over the Thanksgiving weekend, an estimated 7,000 to 7,500 people visited the Vancouver Rotary Foundation’s Festival of Trees at Pearson Air Museum. For those who did not have an opportunity to view the festive holiday trees yet, Pearson Air Museum has adjusted its hours (for this week only) and has reduced its regular family admission to only $5 (two adults and up to four children) so that more people can enjoy the festive holiday trees set against the backdrop of vintage airplanes. Families with more than six family members will pay an additional $2 per person.

Pearson Air Museum will be open December 1st through 3rd from noon to 8 pm, and December 4th, 10 am to 1 pm. They will resume their regular schedule and admission after these dates.

The 15th Annual Vancouver Rotary Foundation’s Festival of Trees theme this year, “A High Flying Tradition”,  fits in with the new location of the decorated trees, which will be at Pearson Air Museum (1115 E. Fifth Street, Vancouver). Also new this year, the Hot Buttered Run and Kids Kandy Kane Race have been added to the three-day festival which begins Thanksgiving weekend with the Community Tree Lighting!

Thousands of Vancouver residents kick off the holiday season the day after Thanksgiving each year by attending the Community Tree Lighting at Esther Short Park.  Come join the fun on Friday, November 26, beginning at 5:30 pm. There will be entertainment, refreshments, elves, and, of course Santa, who arrives by “train”. After the tree lighting, walk across the street to the Vancouver Hilton to hear holiday tunes performed by the Vancouver Pops Orchestra, under the direction of Bert Coffman. There is no charge for these events, but a non-perishable food donation is requested.

This year, the gorgeous trees and wreaths will be interspersed among vintage airplanes and on display at Pearson Air Museum throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 26-28, 2010. Holiday music will be provided by local entertainers and youth groups. The extremely popular Talking Tree will be chatting away and photos with Santa, taken in a historic airplane, will be available. There is also no charge for this event! What a great opportunity to visit the museum!

On Sunday is the Hot Buttered Run and the Kids Kandy Kane Race, which will start and finish at Pearson Air Museum. For more information about the run, visit Energy Events.

The Festival of Trees wraps up on Saturday, December 4 at The Gala Dinner and Auction, also held this year at Pearson Air Museum. A silent and live auction will feature the glorious trees and wreaths, as well as many trips, services and other exciting items. Reservations required. Call 360-750-0409 for information.
