What better way to enjoy the “dog days of summer” than enjoying some time with friends at the Vancouver Brewfest? Now in their sixth year, the Vancouver Brewfest has become a summer tradition for Vancouver, as well as being a major fundraiser for Northwest Battle Buddies, Second Chance Companions and the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans. Since 2012 they have donated over $43,000!
“The Vancouver Brewfest is “A Celebration of Craft Beer!” More than 80 brews to try, great food, fun, art/craft vendors and live music make this the premier event for beer lovers in SW WA. We recognize beer lovers sometimes have friends that don’t drink beer, so we’re bringing a variety of wine, cider, and mead for “those” friends!” ~Vancouver Brewfest
I’ve gone the last several years, and have my souvenir glasses to prove it, and will definitely be going again this year. I know it’s been pretty hot lately, but there’s a lot of shade down at Esther Short Park, and no shortage of cool beverages to choose from (including LOTS of free bottled water). In fact, the official beer of the Vancouver Brewfest, made by Trap Door Brewing and Great Western Malt with an experimental malt, is aptly named “Heat Wave”. You gotta love beer people humor! :-)
This year, I’m going to try to plan ahead and check out all the beers, ciders and meads available, and make a list of all the ones I want to sample, and map my plan of attack. I’m sure I will probably get sidetracked, as there are also local food vendors, games, live music, and shopping… but, I will at least start with a plan!
The Vancouver Brewfest is for the 21 and over crowd (no exceptions) and takes place Friday, August 11 (4:00 pm to 9:30 pm) and Saturday, August 12 (noon to 9:00 pm) at Esther Short Park. Wristbands are good for admission both days, and extra tokens will be available for purchase (Did you know that Vancouver Brewfest tokens never expire? If you have any leftover, you can either save them and use them at the Vancouver Brewfest Spring Edition, or give them to a friend).
Tickets are available to purchase online for a discounted price or at the gate. For more information, visit the Vancouver Brewfest online or on Facebook.
