From Trash to Treasure at Recycled Arts Festival

Come see imaginations come to life as over 145 artists give new life to items that were landfill bound at the 11th Annual Recycled Arts Festival on Saturday and Sunday, June 25-26, 2016 at Esther Short Park.

Of the 145+ artists, over 40 are new to the festival this year and all will be displaying and selling items such as metal and glass garden art, sculptures, mosaics, jewelry, clothing, furniture, birdfeeders and wall art made with 70 percent or more recycled material.

The Recycled Arts Festival is a family friendly event, and aside from the art, will feature an “Art Bar” filled with recycled materials kids can use to create art; environmental education activities, including tours of a tiny house; a sculpture garden displaying large pieces of recycled art; free tours of downtown on Couve Cycle, a multi-passenger, pedal-powered party cycle; food carts and music and entertainment on the main stage.

“The Recycled Arts Festival showcases people’s ingenuity and creativity, and emphasizes the importance of recycling and leading an earth-conscious lifestyle,” said Sally Fisher, environmental outreach specialist.

The free festival will be June 25-26, 2016. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Attendees who show their reusable mugs or water bottles at the Information Tent will be entered in a special drawing.
