Calling all athletes!
The 11th Annual Columbia River and Girlfriends Triathlon along with the Endurance Sports Festival will be taking place on Friday, August 16th through Sunday, August, 18th, 2019, at Frenchman’s Bar Regional Park (9612 NW Lower River Rd).
Almost 1500 athletes from both the US and Canada will join the competition in an attempt to qualify for nationals. Join the race and then join the party with racers of all ages and abilities, from first-timers to elite level athletes, there is something for the whole family to do.
Friday, August 16th the event kicks off with a FREE Kids Tri at 5:00 PM. Kids as young as two years old do a short doggie paddle swim, pedal their tricycles as fast as they possibly can and then dash to the finish line on foot. It’s all worth it for the look of pure joy as they cross that finish line and receive their medal! Also taking place on Friday will be the Sunset 5K/10K Run/Walk starting at 7:00 PM. Kids 17 and under can race FREE.
Saturday, August 17th, the Sprint and Olympic Triathlon, Duathlon and Aquabike starts at 8:00 AM. Athletes in this race are hoping to earn national-level rankings and points so the competition will be tough.
Sunday, August 18th, the all women’s Girlfriends Triathlon, Duathlon, Aquabike, and 5K starts at 9:00 AM. The race field will be full of pink as “girlfriends” run the race together raising funds for Pink Phoenix and other local non-profits. Don’t forget your pink, or you’ll stand out like a sore thumb!
Throughout the weekend there will be a Fitness and Sports Expo and a post-event party with BAJA Fresh. Funds raised at the event are used to support several local non-profits, schools, clubs, and teams.
