Improv can add another tool to a stage actor’s toolbox and can be applied to business and social settings as well. Due to continuing requests from patrons and volunteers, Magenta Theater is again offering improv classes for adults.

Intro to Improv for Adults will take place on Sundays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM starting March 29, 2020, and continuing through May 3 (no class on April 12). Taught by veteran improv player and director of Magenta Improv Theater, KC Cooper, each class in this six-week course will focus on a different aspect of improv. Students will learn the power of “yes and,” and the art of listening and responding, finding agreement, using the environment and developing characters—all in a fun supportive environment! Each student will discover “what works” for them as individuals, and develop their own improv styles while having fun with other students. For ages 18+. There is a 10 student minimum to ensure students have a variety of scene partners. The cost is $125 for the five-week series.

Fundamentals of Improv Scene Work will take place on Sundays from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM starting on March 29 and continuing through May 3 (no class on April 12). This class series puts the “fun” in fundamentals and will dig deeper into the aspects of good scene work – Scene starts, entering and editing scenes, character work, recognizing “offers,” heightening and agreement, status and endowment, and finding the game in a scene. Students will do a lot of scene work, and play some short-form improv games that focus on different elements of improv. This class is taught by veteran improv player and director of Magenta Improv Theater, KC Cooper. Prerequisite: Beginning Improv for Adults or equivalent class at another theater (approval by instructor). This class is for participants 18 and older. There is a 10 student minimum to ensure students have a variety of scene partners. Cost is $125 for the five-week series.

Registration is now available online at Magenta Theater.  For additional information contact KC Cooper [email protected]
