Connect with local history at Heritage Day, held Saturday, September 14, 2019, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Two Rivers Heritage Museum (1 Durgan Street, Washougal). This free event is hosted by the Camas-Washougal Historical Society (CWHS).

“Heritage Day offers guests a fun experience in living history through free admission to the museum, live music, demonstrations, vendor booths, interesting displays, and a prize drawing,” said Lois Cobb, co-event organizer. “You will also want to plan on partaking of our traditional lunch of delicious hot dogs, ice cream sundaes and old-fashioned root beer floats.”

Visitors will enjoy strolling through the museum displays with volunteer docents around every corner, at the ready to answer questions. There will be plants for sale and a chance to see an update on the progress of the new “The Gathering Place” pavilion project, now under construction.

Returning to Heritage Day is the popular “Another Shade of Bluegrass” band, filling the air with toe-tapping music and energy. This year’s vendors include Clark County Flying Eagle “A’s” vintage cars, Early Day Gas Engines, Fort Vancouver Antique Equipment Association, Wood Krafts, Navy Mothers and more.

“We realize that there are many people in Camas and Washougal who have never stopped by the museum and may not even know it exists!” said Dick Lindstrom, co-event organizer. “With so much going on at Heritage Day, it is a great time to come by and see what’s here. And if you have visited us in the past, you’ll still enjoy seeing all the updated displays and interesting, new artifacts. Please plan to join us for this family-friendly, free, fun day to celebrate local history.”

Heritage Day is made possible by CWHS volunteers, led by Cobb and Lindstrom, and event sponsors including Clark Public Utilities. Any event proceeds benefit operations and improvements at the museum.

The Two Rivers Heritage Museum is open March through October. Regular hours are Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Regular admission costs are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for students and free for children under 5 and all CWHS members. Group tours are available any day of the week (by appointment only). Call Cobb 360-835-5449 for scheduling.

Join CWHS to help support additional historic presentations and preservation of local history. Membership and volunteer information will be available at Heritage Day.
