Clark County Quilters, a 501c(3), was established in June 1974, by a group of eight quilting women. Anyone with an interest in quilting could join. Since that first meeting the guild has grown to a membership of about 500, and includes men, women, and youth who share their love of learning, teaching, making, and sharing quilts. Over the years CCQ has become a force in community service, providing hundreds of comfort quilts and thousands of dollars to agencies of Southwest Washington.
The Clark County Quilters invite you to join them the second Thursday each month, September through June, at Adventist Community Church (9711 St Johns Road, Vancouver) for their General Meeting. The next monthly meeting is Thursday, October 10, 2019, at 6:00 PM. The speaker for the meeting is Cathie Hoover with a “Retrospective Trunk Show”.
In Cathie’s own words, “A truly moo-ving experience. Utilizing Holstein cows in my designs was a natural for me even before moving to Moo-desto. The graphic black and white patterns on these cows and their gentle nature appeal to me. During this presentation that includes 21+ years of original work, quilts are shown, and garments are modeled by volunteers. Each article is described in detail using a humorous, and relaxed commentary. Any questions you might have about techniques, materials used, and trade secrets will be answered!”
Cathie will also teach two workshops: “Best of Machine Techniques Sampler” and “Intersecting Rings”.
Social hour begins at 6:00 pm and the General Meeting at 7:00 pm. Most meetings feature a nationally recognized speaker. They do charge a $10 nonmember visitor fee speaker nights to help offset the cost.
