Downtown Camas will be bustling with a visit from Santa, Christmas Tree lighting, entertainment, and fireworks! Over 22 school and community choirs, bands and dancers, tractor hay rides, crafts for the kids, street food vendors, and downtown restaurants and shops will be open for business during the Hometown Holidays event on Friday, December 7th from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM in Downtown Camas.
New this year will be a parking shuttle and “pedestrian corridor”. Turn your frustrating, hard-to-find, “I’m going to be late”, parking space search into a stress-relieving, easy-to-park, approximately 15-minute shuttle experience. The shuttle is free, and routes and parking lots can be found here.
The new “pedestrian corridor” was created in an effort to maintain a thoroughfare for ease of movement during the highlight of the tree-lighting ceremony. Located on the south side of NE 4th Avenue, between NE Birch and NE Cedar Avenues, this area will be used for pedestrian flow only – no stopping or standing will be allowed – from 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm. The area will be roped off, posted, and arranged with staff and volunteers to keep people in that corridor moving and at a constant flow.
“We are also asking that, for the comfort and safety of your pets, that you not bring your pets to this year’s event, unless it is considered a service animal. Because of the fireworks and crowd congestion, it would be in your pet’s best interest to remain at home.”
