And, hey… make sure you wash your hands! It's not necessarily about you, but about others who may be at risk. Thanks! :)
Camas Hometown Holidays Lights Up the Tree and the Skies
Christmas lights and Fireworks? Yes! Enjoy a magical night as Camas invites you to attend their Hometown Holidays event on Friday, December 6, 2019, with festivities starting at 5:00 PM.
Hometown Holidays includes the downtown tree lighting, photos with Santa, crafts, hay rides, Camas Schools entertainment, hot cocoa, holiday shopping, art shows, and more.
Hometown Holidays activities begin at 5:00 PM this year, with the lighting of the Christmas tree to taking place promptly at 6:30 PM. Downtown Camas will be bustling with over 22 school and community choirs, bands and dancers, photos with Santa, tractor hay rides, crafts for the kids, street food vendors, and downtown restaurants and shops will be open for business.
“This is one of our community’s favorite events. It gets us in the mood for the holiday and it brings our community together to share some of the joy of the season.” says Krista Bashaw, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Camas, who has coordinated the event for 14 years.
The parking shuttle and “pedestrian corridor” will also be back this year, turning your frustrating, hard-to-find, “I’m going to be late”, parking space search into a stress-relieving, easy-to-park, approximately 15-minute shuttle experience. The shuttle is free, and routes and parking lots can be found here.
The new “pedestrian corridor” was created in an effort to maintain a thoroughfare for ease of movement during the highlight of the tree-lighting ceremony. Located on the south side of NE 4th Avenue, between NE Birch and NE Cedar Avenues, this area will be used for pedestrian flow only – no stopping or standing will be allowed – from 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm. The area will be roped off, posted, and arranged with staff and volunteers to keep people in that corridor moving and at a constant flow.
