Did you know May 5th through the 11th is National Be Kind to Animals Week? You can get a jump start on the week by participating in the Annual Walk Run for the Animals on Saturday, May 4, 2019. This event helps support the animal care and rescue efforts of the Humane Society of Southwest Washington.
So grab your favorite walking buddy (two or four-legged) and head down to Esther Short Park. Choose either a 3-mile walk or a 5K chip-timed run. Courses are dog and kid friendly and water stations (for both dogs and people!) are provided. Both courses feature some of the finest scenery Vancouver has to offer.
Ending back at Esther Short Park, participants and their pets will enjoy a variety of festivities including Beer Garden, Party in the Park, Awards, and Vendor Village. Vendor Village is the best of animal-loving organizations all in one place. From the latest in toys and treats to businesses owned and operated by pet lovers, Vendor Village brings a great mix of people together, all for the dogs and cats. Make sure to browse Vendor Village after your walk or run and take advantage of free samples and special promotions. The Vancouver Farmers Market will also be in full swing adjacent to Esther Short Park beginning at 9:00 am.
