Whether you’re just starting to think about waste issues or you’ve been living a highly-conscious lifestyle already, there is always room for improvement. Take the WasteBusters Challenge from March 1-20, 2019 and learn something new, adopt sustainable habits, win a prize, and most of all, have fun!
How fun can waste-busting be? Well, it actually starts with a party on Friday, March 1st, at 5:00 pm at the Columbia Bank Community Room (101 East 6th St., Downtown Vancouver). Join WasteBusters to hear from a special guest, meet local groups, and learn more about this year’s pledges. There will be free snacks and giveaways, and a raffle where you can win a Snapware food storage set, beeswax food wrap, or Stasher reusable bag! All are welcome at this free event; you can sign up for a WasteBusters pledge before or at the event.
There are three pledges you can choose from:
1. Eliminate disposable cups by bringing your own mug.
2. Bring your own reusable bag when shopping.
3. Plan your daily meals in advance to minimize food waste.
Simply pick your pledge and register online for the WasteBusters Challenge, then watch for posts on the Challenge Dashboard with ideas on how to reduce waste and earn points. Earn 500+ points for a chance to win one of many prizes!
The WasteBusters Challenge will end on March 20, which is also the same day as the Green Awards being held at the Kiggins Theater from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm… what a coincidence :-) (Hint: earn points just by attending this fun event).
