Be a Scientist for a Day

Does your child want to be a scientist? Inquisitive young minds (and their parents) can explore different fields of science through hands-on activities at this Second Saturday event at the Water Resources Education Center on January 13, 2018.

Reading in the Wild for Young Readers

Well the City of Vancouver’s Water Resources Education Center has combined both of these with “Reading in the Wild”. This FREE story-time hour takes reading to the great outdoors in series that is geared for young readers 3 years to 6 years old. Every Thursday, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, the program connects fun stories with nature activities.

Experience Vancouver Lake

On Thursday, April 13th (5:00 pm to 7:00 pm) come out the Water Resources Education Center and join the Estuary Partnership for the Open House for Vancouver Lake. Light refreshments will provided.

The Best of Second Saturdays

As the Water Center’s 20th anniversary year celebration comes to a close, it’s time to take a look back at some favorite memories, moments, and activities from the past 20 years at the last Second Saturday of the year on December 10, 2016. This month, guests will have the opportunity to make holiday-themed crafts and gifts out of recycled materials, Paint a holiday-themed rock to take home, listen to fables…

Critters are Counting on Fun Second Saturday

The ‘count’ down is on to the Vancouver Water Resources Education Center’s 16th annual Critter Count, a day filled with critter-finding and critter-watching. Start Saturday morning counting critters in their natural habitat. Then, see more critters up close at a live show with snakes, lizards and other reptiles at the Water Resources Education Center. Join in one or both events:

‘Critter Count’ begins at 9:00 AM until noon. The Water Center is seeking the public’s help in field surveys of amphibians and reptiles. Then stick around for ‘Second Saturday’ from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, where the Critter fun continues. Visitors have an opportunity to view snakes, lizards and other reptiles up close.

Something Fishy About Second Saturday

Kids and families are invited to the Water Center’s March Second Saturday to enjoy some fun, interactive activities, while learning about our oceans and estuaries. Find out all kinds of interesting information about these wet worlds. If you’ve ever wanted to know more about the animals that live in the ocean, what they do to attract food, how they protect themselves, and more, then check out all the Water Center has to offer this Second Saturday, March 12, from 1:00 to 3:00PM.
