Swim Season: Parks and Rec Hiring Lifeguards

The City of Vancouver’s Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for a busy summer season and is now hiring more than 75 part-time lifeguards and swim lesson instructors at the Marshall and Firstenburg community centers.

Vancouver Parks and Recreation will hold a one-day aquatics hiring event at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 6 at the Firstenburg Community Center, 700 NE 136th Ave. Interviews will begin at 3 p.m. and required swim tests will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Diving Into Adaptive Swimming Program

The Northwest Association for Blind Athletes (NWABA) announced that it will be launching the organization’s first swimming program for children, youth, adults and military veterans with visual impairments. This program spans the first three Sunday nights in November.

Free Firstenburg Family Fun Day!

Between busy schedules and all the digital distractions, good connected family fun can be hard to come by these days. Well the Firstenburg Community Center has a solution to this problem by hosting a FREE Family Fun Day and Movie Night filled with tons of active options.

On Saturday, November 22, 2014, grab the whole family and head down to the community center at 12:00 pm for some swimming, climbing, basketball, pickleball, and playgroup for the little ones. The Teen Zone will open up at 1:00 pm and the family friendly movie “The Lego Movie” will start at 6:30 pm. Check out below everything that the Firstenburg Community Center has to offer.
