Remembering the Buffalo Soldiers
In honor of Black History Month, “Buffalo Soldiers at Vancouver Barracks” will be presented by Staff Sergeant (Retired) Frazier Raymond, United States Army. After the Civil War, during Reconstruction, the United States Army created several regiments of infantry and cavalry composed almost entirely of African American soldiers. These units, known historically as Buffalo Soldiers, served with distinction and honor on the American frontier.
