A Sweet Schedule for Camas February First Friday

hey! sharing is caring :)

Chocolate treats, fun themed activities, art shows, movies, prizes, and more will all be a part of the First Friday event in Downtown Camas on February 5th. Downtown businesses will be serving and selling chocolate delights and other romantic gifts with wine tastings and specials at select locations as well. The event, from 5-8pm, is hosted by the Downtown Camas Association (DCA) and downtown merchants.

As an addition to this year’s event and in honor of the last season of the beloved series Downton Abbey, come dressed in “Downton” attire and be entered to win a Downton Abbey basket donated by Camas Antiques filled with things any avid fan would love.

The evening’s activities include:

• Guess the candy jar amounts in each participating location and be entered to win the candy and other great Valentine’s themed prizes
• The Original Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory at 6:45pm and Chocolat at 8pm at the Liberty Theatre (Ed note: Awesome!!) :)
• Valentine’s kids crafts at the DCA table in Journey, 304 NE 4th

Two different art show receptions will be showcased as part of First Friday as well. The Camas Gallery, 408 NE 4th, will be featuring Washougal artist Julie Olsen who is a master equestrian painter who uses pastels to create her amazing horse portraits. The Second Story Gallery at the Camas Library, 625 NE 4th Avenue, will be featuring a photography exhibit by the Camas Camera Club, a local group that encourages artistic expression through creative photography. Attic Gallery is now open in Downtown Camas, 421 NE Cedar, and will be featuring the work of many local artists including painter and sculptor Mike Smith.

“This First Friday is a favorite—who doesn’t love chocolate!” says Carrie Schulstad, Executive Director for the DCA. “People have lots of fun dressing up in themed costumes as well and showing community spirit. This is a great event for couples and families alike so come support local and find something perfect for your Valentine.”
