SW Washington Bluegrass Jamboree

hey! sharing is caring :)

Enjoy an old-time bluegrass jamboree at the English Farm’s Volcano View Event Center, April 30, 2016 between 4 pm and 8 pm. The SW Washington Bluegrass Jamboree will be hosted by local musical group Somewhere Between and English Estate Winery. The Jamboree will benefit the local chapter of Guitars 4 Vets.

Whether you are a musician that would like to join in, or just a music enthusiast that enjoys an evening of bluegrass sounds, you are invited to attend. There will be a break in the Jam session for an open mic, 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. This is a family-friendly event, which includes a good ole’ fashion potluck. Please bring a dish to participate in the potluck.

The event will take place on the beautiful 1903 English Farm (17806 SE 1st Street, Vancouver). Still farming and living on the land, the English Family now produce wines from the Seven-Acre Gravel Mine Vineyard. In 1980 the English Family planted Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon vines on the gravelly ridge located at the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge. The Gorge winds keep the vineyard dryer and sunnier than the Pinot growing lands to the North and South. This unique micro climate gives the grapes a character all of their own. The wines are now being crafted by Carl’s children Jennifer English Wallenberg and Carl S English. For more information, visit English Estate Winery online.

Guitars 4 Vets is a National Organization, but the funds raised at this event will be donated to the Veterans Volunteer Services to start up a local chapter of Guitars 4 Vets in SW Washington. Guitars for Vets is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2007. They currently operate more than 50 chapters nationwide. Over the past several years, the organization has developed a guitar instruction program aimed at providing Veterans struggling with physical injuries, PTSD and other emotional distress. G4V pursues its mission to share the healing power of music by providing free guitar instructions, a new acoustic guitar and a guitar accessory kit. This structured program is ran by volunteers. If you are interested in being a guitar instructor for this program, please contact Pam McNamara of Somewhere Between, [email protected].
