Clark Public Utilities’ StreamTeam invites volunteers to register for upcoming tree planting and seedling potting events. To mark 25 years of working to bring salmon back to Salmon Creek, volunteers participating in at least five events will receive a “25 trees for 25 years” thank you gift.
The 2018 season starts with a potting event on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 15, and continues into the spring. Advance registration is required and all tools and training are provided. The potting events are held at Clark Public Utilities’ native plant nursery in Orchards, rain or shine, and planting events are held at a variety of project sites. Details provided during registration.
“It can be hard to find meaningful volunteer work year-round if you’re a person who likes to be outside,” said Ashley King, StreamTeam coordinator at Clark Public Utilities. “Many don’t know that to support our streamside restoration projects, we have the largest native plant nursery in the county. So we can always use help with potting native plant cuttings in the nursery to prep for tree-plantings in the spring.”
