Whole wheat shortcake topped with ripe local strawberries, need we say more? This is one of those timeless treats that welcomes the summer season and nothing compares to freshly made shortcake.
Come out on June 24th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and bring the whole family (unless you don’t want to share the yummy goodness) to the Cedar Creek Grist Mill for “Strawberry Shortcake Day”.
While you are there check out how this historic (and still working) mill grinds grain (yup that is what helped make the tasty treats) and you can take home a free sample of flour to make other amazing recipes in your own kitchen
This is a free event…of course donations are always appreciated to help keep the Cedar Creek Grist Mill going.
If you have some extra time, there are some wonderful nature trails surrounding the mill to explore!
About The Cedar Creek Grist Mill
The mill is a working museum, showing visitors the inside workings of a grist mill and the way it was done in 1876.
You can schedule a tour during the week or come out from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm on weekends to see the huge pulleys and belts spinning as this working mill produces flour, corn meal and even apple cider.
Samples are given to lucky visitors to take home for a first hand experience of the products. No gas or electricity are used, simply mother nature’s water power.
