From Trash to Treasure to Art.
Over 100 artists have taken the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” to heart and will be displaying their recycled art at this year’s Recycled Arts Festival. But, the Recycled Arts Festival is about so much more than art…or recycling. It’s free family fun and entertainment. It’s education. It’s, it’s…well, it’s an experience!
“The Recycled Arts Festival started 6 years ago, as a way to educate and get the community excited about waste reduction, reuse, and recycling in Clark County. It has grown into a huge family event, with more and more artists participating every year. Come on out and peruse the artists’ wares, help your kids make their own handiwork, relax and listen to music, and get all sorts of info on what you can do to improve the environment!”
You are sure to be amazed, or at least entertained, by what people can do with throw away items. Last year, I was also amazed by what people throw away when I visited the “Tossed and Found” booth. “The tossed and found experience offers a glimpse into what people are disposing of at the transfer station. Items are collected at the transfer station for about 2-3 months prior to this event and displayed for the public to view. Following the event, everything will be donated to The Paws and Claws thrift store (The St. John’s one on 52nd Ave.) where it will be available for purchase. Be sure to visit this display for an awe-inspiring glimpse into the world of waste…” ~The Reuser
There will be art, food, a juggling stilt walker, Mudeye Puppets, kids activities, music and more. And if that’s not enough, you can visit the Vancouver Farmers Market while you’re there!
